Consumer-facing Goldsmiths' Directory shines light on designer-makers.

The Goldsmiths’ Company has launched a new consumer-facing online jewellery directory to encourage customers to buy direct from UK jewellers and silversmiths.

The Goldsmiths Directory, which showcases the work of over 350 UK-based designer-makers, is a free image-led service that offers quick search functionality and easy navigation for consumers and the wider trade.

Visitors to the site can search for specific designer-makers or input keywords relating to materials, item types, styles or crafting techniques. All search results appear as images to encourage engagement, and lead to further information and contact details of each designer-maker.

The website will be regularly updated with news from individual makers and editorial-style features ranging from Valentine’s Day gift ideas to men’s jewellery trends.

Designer-makers who wish to be listed in the Goldsmiths’ Directory will need to be vetted by a panel assembled by The Goldsmiths’ Company. They will ask for biographical information, professional qualifications and supporting imagery before inspecting jewellery pieces in person.

Featured jewellers currently include Jacqueline Mina OBE, Tom Rucker, Ingo Henn and Hannah Martin. Featured silversmiths include Rod Kelly, Alistair McCallum and Brett Payne.
