Discover Jewellery to raise the profile of the London jewellery hub.

The Green Street Jewellers’ Association (GSJA) will launch a bi-annual consumer magazine called Discover Jewellery during London Jewellery Week in June.

The Discover Jewellery magazine will contain articles about jewellers on Green Street, bridal jewellery, jewellery-making procedures and will also contain contributions from leading industry bodies, such as the Platinum Guild International, the World Gold Council, India’s Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council, the Gemmological Institute of America and the London Assay Office.

Discover Jewellery will be published twice a year and will have a free distribution of 60,000 copies across Canary Wharf and residential districts in west Essex, and will appear as a supplement in Asian bridal magazines. GSJA said that the magazine has already attracted strong interest from advertisers, particularly luxury brands.

The magazine is the first to be published by South Asian jewellers in east London and will help the retailers on east London’s Green Street to promote themselves ahead of the 2012 London Olympics, which will take place locally. GSJA said the magazine will also further define Green Street as a jewellery quarter.

GSJA spokesman Jayant Raniga said: “Our magazine is about changing the public perception about jewellery in Green Street. We want people to see that our products are cutting edge. We’re promoting British design.”
