Hallmarking up 0.8% in February 2016

Hallmarking figures compiled by Assay Office Birmingham for February 2016 show a slight increase in the total number of items assayed compared to the same period in 2015. 

The total number of articles hallmarked across the four UK Assay Offices in February increased by 0.8% compared to the same month in 2015 with a total of 766,310 pieces being handled by the Assay Offices compared to 760,340 last year.

Gold articles hallmarked jumped by 7.9% and platinum increased by 17.7%. Silver and palladium were both down. Silver was decreased by 6.9%, while palladium was down by 26%.
