Hallmarking up 5.4% in a positive March 2016

Hallmarking figures compiled by Assay Office Birmingham for March 2016 show an increase in the total number of items assayed compared to the same period in 2015. 

The total number of articles hallmarked across the four UK Assay Offices in March increased by 5.4% compared to the same month in 2015 with a total of 740,976 pieces being handled by the Assay Offices compared to 702,725 last year.

Gold, silver, platinum and palladium all enjoyed an increase in articles hallmarked. Palladium jumped the most by 11.7%, closely followed by platinum by 10.5%, gold by 8.2% and silver by 1.8%.
