Antique jeweller to show pieces by Harry Winston at London fair.
By Jessica Knowles
Burlington Arcade antique jewellers Hancocks will make a return to Masterpiece London with a collection of fine antique jewellery and highlights from Harry Winston and Lalique.
The exhibition will open on June 27 and will run for a week until July 3. Masterpiece London takes place each year showcasing fine art, jewellery, design, yachts, cars and antiques from the leading dealers from all over the world.
Highlights from Hanckocks’ showcase include a Harry Winston Holly Wreath necklace created in 1962 and a rare enamel and diamond butterfly brooch by Renè Lalique thought to date back to 1895.
The Holly Wreath necklace concept was born in 1944 inspired by the seasonal Christma decoration. The necklace is set with 152cts of pear-shaped, round- and marquise-cut diamonds.
The butterfly brooch by Renè Lalique was originally given to his daughter Suzanne Lalique-Haviland. It remained in her collection until 1989 when it became part of the Garden Museum’s Collection in Japan. The brooch is set with brilliant- and rose-cut diamonds and cabochon rubies. It is accompanied by additional hair fittings and is signed by Lalique.
