Designer’s work taken to city with fashion-led concept retailer.
Work by jewellery designer Hannah Martin is now for sale in Tokyo, after her jewels were chosen to be stocked at the recently-opened Dover Street Market store in Ginza, Tokyo.
Martin said the store has been an immediate hit with the locals in Ginza, an upscale area of the city known for its high-end retailers, boutiques and coffee shops.
She said on her blog: “A ripple of excitement ran through the studio when we first heard the whispers a few months ago of a new Dover Street Market fashion emporium – in Tokyo!
“It feels like the DSM spiritual home and of course has been an immediate hit with all of those in the know.”
The Dover Street Market store in Tokyo mirrors the London store, located on Dover Street itself in Mayfair, home to quirky fashion, jewellery and accessory designers, and the main stockists of Comme Des Garcons fashion and perfumes in the UK.
The concept store was created by Rei Kawakubo, with the aim of creating “a kind of market where various creators from various fields gather together and encounter each other in an ongoing atmosphere of beautiful chaos: the mixing up and coming together of different kindred souls who all share a strong personal vision."
