Harrods has promoted its former general merchandise manager for fine jewellery Helen David to the role of director for fine jewellery.

David has been with Harrods for six years and has been involved with a number of large projects at the London luxury store, including the recent redesign and layout of the department store’s International Designer Rooms, the launch of Harrods’ Fashion Lab and the soon to be launched Fine Jewellery Room.

David has been promoted to fashion director of fine jewellery, as well as womenswear, accessories and childrenswear, meaning she now oversees the buying teams responsible for more than two-thirds of the store.

The store has also hired a new director for watches, menswear and sports, Jason Broderick, following the departure of Marigay McKee to US luxury retailer Saks.

Harrods managing director Michael Ward said: "We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Helen David to fashion director of womenswear, accessories, fine jewellery and childrenswear and Jason Broderick to fashion director of menswear, sports and fine watches. Both are excellent merchants, with an exceptional eye for luxury, playing an integral part in developing the world class offer that Harrods is known for."
