Holts Academy of Jewellery has designed the Hatton Garden Dream Jar ‘The Diamond Garden’, as part of ‘The BFG Dream Jar’ trail around London this summer.
The trail celebrates the anniversary year of what would have been Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday and the release of the new Steven Spielberg blockbuster, ‘The BFG’.
The Dream Jar was made by the school to capture the dreams of the young people training to be the next generation of craftsmen and jewellers.
The jar is a clever analogy of the jewellery industry: it features a beautifully crafted honey bee hovering over a flower. Like the bee gathers nectar to make honey, jewellery designers and makers take metals and stones, and work them into precious pieces of jewellery.
The Holts Academy Dream Jar is sponsored by the Hatton Garden Business Improvement District and sits at the Holborn end of Hatton Garden in the heart of the historic jewellery quarter.
Holts Academy joins other celebrities and London based businesses that have designed their own dreams which sit in the huge jars situated in iconic spots around London.
Gary Williams, chairman of the Hatton Garden BID said: “Hatton Garden is proud to welcome the stunning Dream Jar designed by Holts Academy, and we think it’s a hugely creative way of showcasing the skill of the men and women that make this place London’s historic jewellery quarter. The ‘Dream Jar’ is a wonderful addition to the area over the summer and we look forward to welcoming visitors as they follow this magical trail around the capital.”
Visitors to London are encouraged to find as many of the 50 jars as they can and they can be bid for and bought in an online auction to raise money for Save the Children.
