Academy embarks on road trip to introduce young people to industry.
Holts Academy is taking its tutors on the road to promote the school and jewellery as a career choice at events and schools throughout the UK.
Staff from Holts Academy will be touring the country between now and January. As well as visiting schools to speak about its range of jewellery training courses, Holts will also attend the Skills London Show between November 22 and 24, and last week attended the Birmingham World Skills Show.
The purpose of the trip, according to Holts Academy, is to encourage young people to consider the jewellery industry as a viable career option when they leave school, either through an apprenticeship scheme or a vocational course.
The school said that it will also use the trip to promote its new Apprenticeship Boot Camp initiative that aims to get young people ready for work through a programme of fun activities. The Boot Camp will launch in London and Birmingham this month.
Holts Academy director Lee Lucas said: "These events are critical to raising awareness of one of our countries’ most cherished and diverse industries. Holts Academy has worked for the past eight years to ensure that entering our sector is increasingly in the mix for career choices for our young people.
"Backed up by a unique and nationwide apprenticeship programme, Holts Academy is inspiring a generation to support the industry. We do this at our own expense, not because we need to, but because without this work the myriad possibilities available to young people in the jewellery trade remain hidden"
