“This has been a great year for Swarovski and also for me professionally,” Mark explains.
“Back in January 2014 I had very much a ‘head of’ mentality but then grew to a ‘retail director’. This happened through being lead as opposed to managed by my line manager.”
All of this positive direction and encouragement gave Mark the drive to propel Swarovski forward with excellent like-for-like growth. He’s also developed his business skills along the way, noting: “By allowing myself to step out of the detail and inspire others to sparkle, I have seen great developments across the business.”
Mark has gone back to basics to achieve his goals this year, focusing on systems, processes and refining structures across all of Swarovski’s stores. He’s also worked closely with his training managers to ensure all store staff are “100% comfortable in advising consumers on choosing the perfect gift to suit all styles and budgets”.
Mark has been heavily involved in the launch and development of Swarovski’s consumer loyalty programme, BeSwarovski, this year, alongside the launch of mobile payment processes and a Click & Collect service (due to be extended to a Click & Reserve service later this year). As well as spending time with his family and friends, Mark uses his down time to indulge his passion for running half marathons, having completed six in the past year alone.
