HOT 100 2015 TRENDSETTERS: Alice Cicolini

This year saw Alice Cicolini launch her first complete collection, Summer Snow.

Previously Alice had specialised in one-of-a-kind and bespoke pieces, but now she has a full range available for consumers to buy and collect. Alice has been aiming to grow her label’s profile through wholesale, particularly in the US market, with a view to build a number of partnerships with retailers who share her values. She explains: “In the long term these key partnerships should enable me to expand my direct sales as consumer awareness of my work grows.”

Alice balances growing her own brand with being creative director for Winterson, a pearl jewellery specialist that has gone from strength to strength in recent months. Her latest collection for the company, Beau, is the embodiment of Alice’s contemporary, feminine take on pearls — offering younger consumers a route into the world of fine pearl jewellery.

Alice has always worked in the arts, as a curator, commissioner and now designer. When she is not at the studio she loves to spend as much time as she can being inspired; strolling through museums or rooting in archives.

In addition, she is a family woman who can often be found exploring new places, hanging out in the park, eating good food and making things with her children. She shares: “I think the strength of those relationships, and the support I gain from them, have enabled me to stay on this journey.”

When asked what she is most proud of this year Alice answers: “To have sustained and grown a business on my own, with no family or external investment, in an environment where that is prevalent.”
