In the park opposite his office, where he occasionally spends a few moments away from his desk during the busy working week, Daniel Ozel reflects on the past 12 months at Unique & Co.
It’s been a key year for Daniel, as he and his team, including brother Jak, have been hard at work rebranding the business to boost profile and raise awareness, both with the trade and the end consumer.
Ultimately, his aim is to transform Unique & Co into an internationally recognised jewellery brand, distributed across Europe and the rest of the world. “We took new model images, produced POS material and a new website, and overall the rebrand was very positively received by our stockists and helped to increase sales,” he explains.
“I have the feeling we are going in the right direction and raising the level of the brand.” Furthermore, the team has also been active in the design and development of exciting new products and collections.
Its latest sterling silver ladies collection, for instance, has been a big success in the first quarter of this year, with a rise of 64% in sales compared to the same period last year. “Our customer loved the new designs, which was reflected in a high sales increase compared to last year,” says Jak.
Working hand-in-hand with one another certainly helps remind the pair of the importance of a work-life balance. “Family is very important to me, and our business is a family business,” says Daniel. “Sometimes the work takes a lot of time and attention away from the family, however it’s good to remember that work and business are not everything – there are more important things in life.”
Jak agrees: “It’s all about the right balance between social and work life – a harmonic home, family and social life makes me very productive at work. Being able to switch of after work is key!”
