I never stop thinking about jewellery – whether that’s during the day as I work or dreaming about it in the middle of the night. I absolutely love it!” says Lauren Rowden, founder of Ellie Air Jewellery.
A relative newcomer to the industry, Lauren’s passion for jewellery was rewarded at last year’s IJL when she was selected to be a KickStarter.
“It was my greatest business success of the past 12 months,” she enthuses. “It gave Ellie Air huge exposure and since then it has created many new opportunities for the company – from new stockists and leads, to press coverage and greater recognition within the industry.”
Lauren also won the Adorn Insight Award during Kickstart, which is based on the commercial potential and design innovation of the displayed collections.
Speaking of which, this year Lauren has launched a brand new jewellery range called ‘Firma’, which is Italian for ‘signature’. “This collection is based on the clean, minimal lines that Ellie Air has become known for, and introduces the brand to the fine jewellery market. Having both silver and fine collections has led to a wide range of interest from new clients, both as customers and stockists, as well as bringing in a number of bespoke customers,” she explains.
For the year ahead, Lauren plans to exhibit at more trade and retail shows, as well as trying out some different jewellery-making techniques. “I’m always on a mission to increase my skill set and I’m currently involving more wax carving in my work, as well as designing more intricate pieces with paint-ups,” she reveals. The future certainly looks bright.
