Desmond Walsh retires from tool and equipment business after 64 years.
Manufacturer and supplier of tools and equipment to the jewellery and horological trades, HS Walsh, have bid farewell to their Chiarman Desmond Walsh following the announcement of his retirement.
Walsh has worked at the helm of the business for 64 years but will now shift focus to the Properties Company with the help of his daughters Lisa and Sophie, who are looking into developing the company’s old site at Beckenham.
To mark the occasion of his retirement, the directors of company took Walsh off for a spin in a Navajo 8 seater plane, straight from its premises at Biggin Hill Airport. They flew to Honfleur in Normandy where they took a stroll in the village and enjoyed lunch in a harbourside restaurant.
HS Walsh says of Walsh’s departure: “Desmond has dedicated much of his life to the success of the company and from its humble beginnings in the front room of his father’s house in Beckenham in 1947 it has become a very significant player in the jewellery and horological world, with its Head Office now operating from Biggin Hill and its two branches in Hatton Garden, London and the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham.”
Walsh is a keen rugby fan, playing until the age of 47. Today he enjoys rounds of golf and swimming.
The company added: “Desmond will be keeping in touch with Head Office and both branches from time to time and we wish him well for a long, healthy and happy retirement.”
