International Jewellery London will welcome 155 new companies to this year’s exhibition at Olympia, with 80% of those specialising in fine jewellery.
Event director Sam Willoughby comments: “We have more fine jewellery – especially international fine jewellery – than in any other show in the UK. We sold out [the Design Gallery] about two or three months ago, so we are squeezing in small stands here and there to accommodate everyone. What we’ve noticed when talking to retailers and exhibitors is that what’s doing better for them is the higher-end, especially gold. We can really see this reflected in the new exhibitors and those that are maybe taking a slightly bigger space.
This boom in fine jewellery exhibitors in the Design Gallery portion of International Jewellery London is said to highlight the show’s focus on high quality designer brands and manufacturers – supporting the exhibition’s USP as a mid-to-high-end showcase.
International growth continues to be key for International Jewellery London, with around 40% of exhibitors from countries other than the UK. This year, exhibitors from 38 countries will be present at the event as opposed to 31 countries in 2014.
The IJL Diamond Club also grew by 20% in 2014, and Willoughby expects it to continue to grow in 2015. She comments: For 2015 we are welcoming even more members to the group, so we’ve got buyers from airlines, Duty Free companies, online retailers like Notonthehighstreet.com and QVC.”
