IN PICS: Grad jewellers at New Designers 2014 Pt.1

Oversized brooches by Jules Weiss. Part One of New Designers took place last week, showcasing final year jewellery and silverware from students across the UK. A total of 10 universities and colleges took part in the show, namely DJCAD, Edinburgh College of Art, Glasgow School of Art, Middlesex University, National College of Art and Design (NCAD), Birmingham School of Jewellery, Sheffield Hallam, The Cass at London Metropolitan, Truro College and UCA Rochester. This year's show revealed an increasing number of commercially-minded students, with graduates demonstrating an understanding of the viability of designs and the use of manufacturing techniques to speed up certain processes. Materials used this year varied from precious metals and enamels to silicone, coffee beans, 3D-printed nylon and wood. (Copyright ITP)
