Independent jeweller moves online-only after 72 years on the high street

The owners of an independent jewellery retailer in York have decided to exit the high street and trade solely online.

R A Braithwaite in Goodramgate will close its doors after 72 years as store owners, Frank and Dianne Wood, retire from the high street.

Talking to local newspaper, The Press, Frank Wood said they will continue to build the R A Braithwaite brand for years to come, but have decided to move to online retailing as this side of the business has been doing extremely well.

“We would like to thank all of our clients and customers for their continuous and loyal support over the last 72 years and we plan to maintain the service of their needs over the next 72 years,” Mr Wood told The Press.

The company is now in the second generation and run by Dianne (daughter of the founders) and Frank Wood.

It’s always strived to offer high quality products at competitive prices, and will continue to do this from its online portal.

R A Braithwaite stocks gold, platinum and silver jewellery, with sections on the website dedicated to highlighting gifts for both men and women.
