UK jewellery supplier roadshow event defies economic gloom.
This year’s Ireland Jewellery Showcase has been declared a “great success” by its exhibitors, having taken in three cities on what organisers described as a travelling ‘roadshow’ around the country.
The Showcase, in which UK jewellery suppliers exhibit their products directly to visiting retailers, was held in August and visited Limerick, Dublin and Belfast.
This year, 25 supplier companies were involved, more than double the number that it started with in its debut year. Despite Ireland’s tough economic climate, the roadshow was visited by around 200 Irish jewellers who placed “strong orders” with satisfied exhibitors.
“Attendance has grown year on year and I am extremely pleased with the response to this year’s collection,” said Chris Sellors of Derbyshire-based supplier C W Sellors.
Show organiser John Ball, who is sales director for wedding ring supplier Brown & Newirth, said that with the success of this year’s event, the Showcase would grow again in 2012. “We started by bringing over just 10 companies from the UK but this year we have included selected Irish, Scottish, Welsh, German and Italian suppliers, bringing the total to 25 and obviously making the show more appealing to retailers here,” he said.
