Bittar recalls his love/hate relationship with Dynasty bitch Alexis.
Alexis Bittar has described his delight at signing 1980s soap queen Joan Collins as the face for his latest jewellery collection.
In his blog, Bittar said he is “thrilled to have her represent the line because she deserves credit for much of the 80’s fashion that is mimicked today.”
Bittar’s connection to Joan Collins harks back to his days watching US smash soap opera Dynasty, in which Collins played super-bitch Alexis Carrington.
Prior to that, ‘Alexis’ was most commonly used as a boy’s name, but the Joan Collins role changed all that, leading to some challenges growing up as a boy in Brooklyn with what became a glamour puss lady’s name, Bittar recalled.
“I’ve been defending the masculinity of my name ever since,” Bittar said in his blog.
Joan Collins voiced her support for the new line and her love for Alexis Bittar jewellery. “Alexis Bittar is by far my favourite costume jewellery designer. His whimsical designs suit my personality effortlessly. I always feel glamorous and sexy whenever I adorn myself in his creations,” she said.
