Gallery to showcase wearable art jewels from global designer-makers.
Shizaru gallery in London’s Mayfair is set to host a glittering showcase of jewellery from the world’s most exciting designer-makers, co-curated by jewellery specialist Joanna Hardy, one of last year’s Professional Jeweller Hot 100 Trendsetters.
The Art Rocks exhibition will feature jewellery from some of the industry’s most innovative desihners and emerging talent, including Shaun Leane, Zoe Arnold, Gimel, Leo de Vroomen, Kevin Coates, Zobel, ARK, Fred Rich, Sevan Biçakçi and Sophia Mann.
The show opens on December 1, running until January 14 2012, with a showcase of ‘wearable art’ that unites both concept and creation. The exhibition will aim to explore the vast potential and diversity of contemporary jewellery and its rightful alignment with the world of fine art.
Hardy said of the Art Rocks show: “I am very honored and excited to be working alongside Shizaru. The founders Daniel, Benjamin and Raphael Khalili have a huge appreciation and understanding of the best in craftsmanship and design in both antique and contemporary artifacts so to be given this opportunity to exhibit jewellery in their gallery is fantastic.
“It has always been my vision to showcase jewellery as an art form and I can think of no better gallery in London with which to achieve this,” she added.
Leading fashion and fine jeweller Shaun Leane and young British talent Zoe Arnold and Sophia Mann will exhibit alongside renowned jewellers such as Leo De Vroomen and Sevan Biçakçi.
Art Rocks is the latest in Shizaru’s inaugural exhibition series, following celebrated goldsmith Kelly McCallum’s solo show, Plumage & Paradise and the Best of British showcase which included pieces by Kelly McCallum, Bouke De Vries, Soheila Sokhanvari and Adam Ball.
