J&WB unveils Origins theme and mentoring for 2015

Jewellery & Watch Birmingham (J&WB) has unveiled a new ‘Origins’ theme for its February 2015 show, focusing on AW15 fashion and jewellery trends and ideas of identity and style.

The new theme was decided after intensive interviews with previous exhibitors and visitors, ensuring retailers are given the right amount of inspiration and advice.

Organisers i2i Events Group will also introduce shorter seminars and guest speaker slots, plus a new group-based mentoring scheme.

Commenting on this year’s guest speakers, i2i Events Group content manager, Sophy Searight, said: “The expert speakers are either independent retailers or have been in the very recent past, prior to their growth, and will be discussing issues ranging from identifying best-sellers, to running a time-poor social media campaign.

“The speakers are leading your industry and in the best possible position to share the knowledge that makes them standout from the crowd. This your opportunity to learn honest, down-to-earth strategies on topics such as visual merchandising, the importance of creating and committing to your brand, and how to make sure your premises and product is safe from theft.”

In February 2015, guest speaker sessions and seminars will be just 20 minutes long, with time for questions, in order to provide “bite-sized time commitments” for show visitors.

J&WB will introduce advice and mentoring sessions for members of the industry in February 2015, allowing visitors to sign-up and meet with small pre-arranged groups of people to debate key issues.

The mentor groups available include:

Creating the website – SEO, Traffic, Look and feel, Landing pages, Cost and benefits, unexpected challenges

Social Media – Twitter, Facebook, Pintrest, Vine, Tweetdeck, Hootsuite, Blogging, and many more! Discuss what will work best for you, and how to make it happen

Marketing, brand and PR – Print, social, radio advertising. Using trade and national press for PR. Creating a maintaining a strong sense of identity and brand across your business

General business management – A broad mentorship category ideal for those starting up in jewellery and watch retail

Running a Successful Jewellery Retail Business– Meeting those prepared to offer their experience and advice on a variety of the challenges all indie retailers face

Jewellery & Watch Birmingham will take place at Birmingham’s NEC arena from February 1 to 5 2015.
