Supermodel accepts proposal with 1920s ring worth ‘tens of thousands’
Kate Moss has apparently accepted a wedding proposal from long-term boyfriend Jamie Hince, days after celebrating her 37th birthday.
Moss, who was wrongly reported as married last summer, is said to have accepted the surprise proposal earlier this week with Hince "going down on one knee", according to a report in The Sun.
A wedding date of July 2 has already been circulated, with rumours that Hince approached Kate’s mother to ask permission to propose. According to The Sun, the ring is a "vintage 1920s engagement ring worth tens of thousands of pounds", and images online show Moss wearing a ring on her wedding finger.
The vintage look has already been heralded as a popular bridal trend this year, with the February issue of Professional Jeweller focusing on the trend for old-fashioned or inherited jewellery.
Moss and Hince were spotted shopping in London’s Mayfair yesterday, and are said to have visited S.J. Philips, an antique jewellers on New Bond Street housing a large number of deco-inspired diamond ring, some worth over £50,000.
Moss is said to have joked that she will be the most famous Kate to marry in 2011 – not Kate Middleton.
