Professional Jeweller’s 2014 Hot 100 NexGem, Kristjan Eyjolfsson, has teamed up for the fourth year with the Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show to design a tulip-inspired brooch for this year’s gala guests.

The award-winning goldsmith and designer, Eyjolfsson, has been inspired by this year’s winning tulip flower illustration created by Devika Anita Rattu.

Crafted from 100% sustainably-sourced sterling silver, each steam cups a tulip head sillfully hand-carved in moonstone by Eyjolfsson himself. The moonstone captures the subtle line and form of the tulip, bringing out its playful iridescence and evoking the colours of Rattu’s original picture.

This creation is the first time Eyjolfsson has worked from an abstract concept on behalf of the RHS, as in the past theme flowers have been inspired by illustrations found within the RHS’ Lindley Library Collection. The intangible illustration has proved an exciting challenge for the jewellery designer.

Now in its fourth year, the collaboration has seen Kristjan Eyjolfsson Fine Jewellery hand-craft beautiful brooches for the previous Chelsea Flower Show Gala Preview events, the highlight of which was the honour of creating a very special brooch for Her Majesty, The Queen on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

The Chelsea Flower Show Gala Preview evening takes place on Monday May 18 2015.
