Jeweller to donate percentage of sales to cultural heritage group.
Over the next three years Lapponia Jewelry will donate a percentage of sales from its classic necklace Pretty Earth to Europa Nostra, the pan-European organisation that brings together Europe’s growing cultural heritage movement.
Featured in Lapponia’s 2010 Anniversary collection Pretty Earth, originally created in the 1970s, was designed by the recently retired Lapponia designer Poul Havgaard. The 2010 design depicts an abstract sterling silver globe on a long chain.
Lapponia marketing director Riitta Huuhtanen said: “Lapponia has always followed its own revolutionary way and trusted in its bold intuition. Our passion is to create unique art-jewellery inspired by our beautiful Nordic nature. We also take responsibility for cherishing Lapponia’s design heritage. Our involvement with the highly respected Europa Nostra will be rewarding for both our organisations and Lapponia fans around the world.”
Europa Nostra represents hundreds of organisations and 1,500 individual members from more than 50 countries. Its main commitment is to safeguard and cherish Europe’s cultural design heritage and landscapes. In June 2010 at the Annual Congress in Istanbul, the world-renowned tenor and conductor Placido Domingo became the president of Europa Nostra.
