A former Leicester City FC employee was able to open a luxury jewellery store in the city, thanks to support from the club.

Ercan Onguc first started working as a waiter in the team’s restaurant after moving to England. When the then chief executive discovered that he was originally a jeweller, he was sent on a course to improve his English, enabling him to get back into the jewellery trade in London.

Onguc returned to Leicester, opening Lanes Fine Jewellery with his wife, Carli, three years ago. “It’s like a dream come true, and I will always be grateful to the club for helping me,” he says.

Luxury jewellery boutique Lanes Fine Jewellery has been the official jeweller to Leicester City FC for the last two seasons.

Carli comments: “It’s wonderful to get to know the team closely and spend time with them.  The whole football club and the fans really are like one big family and we are privileged to have shared in that every week.  We are certainly proud to be part of this city and its amazing football club. ”
