London Jewellery School (LJS) has relaunched its online learning arm as London Jewellery School Online as part of a move to bring the LJS services and products closer together under one brand.
The school is currently developing and filming a further six online courses, which will allow students to access the LJS teaching from wherever they are based or combine face to face learning with online courses at their own pace from JewellerySchoolOnline.com.
Alongside the online courses, London Jewellery School Online will offer class kits containing everything needed to complete the course from home. This means the LJS team can offer a one-stop solution of courses, equipment and support.
The school’s founder Jessica Rose says: “Focus is on community, learning and very clear, detailed break-downs of each stage of the making process.
“We are lucky in London to have access to incredible talent in the form of jewellers who are willing and able to share their skills and knowledge. With the online school we hope to be able to offer far more people across the world options to learn, make and share their jewellery.”
London Jewellery School Online is a rebranding of ‘Jewelry From Home’ set up by LJS in 2014. The move to online learning stemmed from an on-going demand from students for distance learning options for the 80+ different jewellery making courses on offer at LJS. Since then LJS has also started a collaboration with equipment supplier JewelTool and launched a pop-up jewellery supplies shop allowing the school to better support its community of developing jewellers.
The London Jewellery School was founded back in 2009 by Jessica Rose who is now heading the growth of the online platform. There are five initial courses live on the site, including a free course for beginners.
The move to develop online learning is part of a mission behind the jewellery school to provide options for ‘everyone to make jewellery’ opening up access to education for people all over the world.
