Week-long jewellery celebration returns to capital for fourth year.
London Jewellery Week has launched today and in 2011 is celebrating its fourth anniversary as an important destination jewellery festival for designers both from the city and the rest of the UK.
The buzz about this week has been building for several months and the capital is poised to welcome designers and consumers from all over the UK.
With the sudden cut in funding from main financial backer Coutts two years ago, LJW bounced back last year headed by a crack team including Della Tinsley of the East London Design Show, Jayant Raniga of retailer PureJewels, Lee Lucas from Holts Academy and Paul Dyson of The Goldsmiths’ Company. The foursome has again struck gold, and is set to deliver and an even bigger, bolder and better publicised event this year that has had retailers, designers and industry bodies signing up in their droves.
With six days of collection launches, dazzling parties, special talks, design workshops, fashion shows and behind-the-scenes tours there will be something for everyone at LJW and Tinsley has made sure that all bases are covered. “There are such a broad number of events going on at London Jewellery Week, with galleries, parties and launches that will showcase all aspects of British jewellery design,” she says. “There will be family events in Hatton Garden, chances to make your own jewellery, the opportunity to meet designers; the list is endless.”
