Now is the time for designers to enter the platinum-based Lonmin Design Innovation Award 2010. Launched by Blue Inc eight years ago, this prestigious competition which recognises and rewards outstanding design in platinum has now become one of the UK’s top jewellery accolades.
Sponsored by Lonmin, one of the world’s largest producers of platinum, the award is open to all jewellery designers based in the UK, whether independent or working for a manufacturer or retailer. It is judged under a two-part system which recognises designers with more than five years’ commercial experience, and those with less than five years in the industry. The emerging designer section of the competition, which aims to encourage young designers to work in platinum, is supported by International Jewellery London.
The eight winners are selected by a distinguished panel of judges which in 2009 included internationally celebrated designers Stephen Webster and Shaun Leane, Platinum Guild International, Lonmin and long term supporter of the event Johnson Matthey. An exclusive marketing and PR campaign is organised to help promote the winning designers and their achievement is celebrated at a spectacular award party which last year took place at London’s Serpentine Gallery Pavilion.
Full application forms with drawings and/or images must be received by 1st April 2010. Designers interested in entering or hearing more about this competition should contact Julie Dauncey on
