Upcycling design house to host training at new studio in Birmingham.

Birmingham art jewellery brand Magnus & Bella has stepped in to the realm of jewellery training, launching design classes at its new Birmingham studio.

Magnus & Bella, founded by husband-and-wife team Magnus and Bella Stokoe, has been producing art jewellery for several years, using objects such as buttons, gemstones and watch parts, setting them in resin, glass and ethical gold.

Magnus & Bella has decided to open its studio for enthusiasts to learn jewellery-making skills following requests from clients who wished to be involved with the design and making process.

Bella Stokoe told Professional Jeweller: "We have had so many customer requests that we have agreed to pass on traditional skills in classes after work, beginning with an introduction to silversmithing, looking at advanced skills, working with gold and and also working with resin.

"They will all be hosted in our studio in Birmingham and we are already having such a huge response that we plan to offer daytime classes, evening classes and one day experiences which people often choose to give as gifts."

The daytime and evening classes will be presented in a block of five weeks, for two hours each week.

The company was shortlisted for the New Designers of the Year category in the UK Jewellery Awards in 2011. The new studio was opened in February this year close to Birmingham’s Museum of the Jewellery Quarter.
