The Goldsmiths’ Company is celebrating the success of its second annual Make Your Mark student event, welcoming more than 750 guests to the Goldsmiths’ Hall on April 17 and 18.
The event, led by the Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office, delivered a range of seminars designed to inspire, motivate and advise students, graduates and course leaders from across the country. Speakers included Theo Fennell, Michael Wainwright of Boodles, Monique Daniels and Ivonna Poplanska on behalf of the Goldsmiths’ Centre, and Look-C social media expert Georgia O’Keefe.
In addition, 29 companies from across the trade, such as diamond and bullion dealers and tool suppliers had stands where they showcased products, gave demos and offered advice and career guidance.
The event also provided the opportunity to explore Goldsmiths’ Hall and network in a very informal but constructive manner. Dr Robert Organ, Deputy Warden, said: “We were delighted to be able to facilitate such a vital, completely free resource to the next generation of British jewellers and silversmiths. Make Your Mark is now firmly established as an annual event in the Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office’s calendar.”
As part of the event, the Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office offered all students who attended an exclusive Hallmarking Package for free. This unrivalled package comprised of a ten year registration, one sponsor’s punch (featuring one of the Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office’s standard designs) and laser software set-up in preparation for laser hallmarking.
