Plans for significant growth while refurbishing existing shops.
Aurum is planning to open up to 12 new Mappin & Webb stores and refurbish all of its existing shops to fit in with the new storefit installed at its Regent Street branch in London.
The watch and jewellery retail chain currently has 13 stores but is hoping to increase its network in the UK to between 20 and 25 shops. Aurum said that it is currently looking for suitable locations and will be searching in areas such as Covent Garden in London, Chester, York and Leeds.
Aurum chief executive Justin Stead said: “We are planning significant store growth.”
Mappin & Webb has just introduced a new store design to its Regent Street boutique and is planning to roll out the design to all of its UK branches.
In the first quarter of 2012 Aurum will convert its Goldsmiths store in the upper mall at Bluewater into a new-look Mappin & Webb shop. It will then follow this by refurbishing its stores in Edinburgh and Manchester, also in the first quarter.
Stead said: “Next year we are going to contemporise the brand while holding on to its position in the market. Regent Street is the first taster of the new environment”.
