Statement jewellery range inspired by cubist artist Fernand Leger.
Jewellery brand Mawi is confirming its status as a leader in trend-led jewellery with another fashion collaboration.
After watching dresses created by Mary Kantrantzou with prints featuring its jewellery designs strut down the catwalk earlier in the year, Mawi has secured another stake in the fashion world by collaborating with couture designer David Koma.
Mawi has created a bracelet and knuckle-duster ring to complement Koma’s architecturally inspired spring/summer 2011 range, as seen on the catwalk at London Fashion Week. Mawi designer Mawi Keivom said she has taken inspiration from cubist artist Fernand Leger for the oversized statement pieces.
Keivorn added: “We are mutual fans of each other’s work. I was so excited to be collaborating with one of the hottest names on the fashion calendar and feel we share the same aesthetic. David wanted us to create something really special and the end result is product that compliments the collection without losing the magical Mawi touch.”
The jewellery made its debut as part of Koma’s London Fashion Week show last month but the Mawi for David Koma range will launch in retail stores in February. Price points will range from £600 to £5,000 for bespoke couture pieces.
