Service to take place for Bernard Ward in July.
A memorial service is set to take place to commemorate Bernard Ward, the former Birmingham Assay Office assay master who passed away in March.
The Birmingham Assay Office will hold the service at St Paul’s Church in St Paul’s Square, Birmingham, on July 9 at 1pm.
The Assay Office said: "Bernard will be fondly remembered for many years to come not only by his friends and colleagues at The Birmingham Assay Office but by the whole of the UK jewellery and precious metals industries. The Service will enable everyone to pay tribute to a man who achieved so much during his working life within the jewellery industry."
Ward was well known in both the Birmingham and wider UK jewellery communities, holding the role of assay master at the BAO for 15 years until his retirement in 1998.
During his time at the helm of the Birmingham Assay Office, Ward reinvigorated the business, encouraging progress through expansion and exemplary customer service, acquired new equipment and boosting team effort to position Birmingham as the largest assay office in the UK in just three years.
