French jewellery brand Messika has reported growing interest in its delicate fine jewellery among UK retailers.

The brand is distributed in the UK by Peter Ungar Jewellery, who said reaction to its Gatsby and classic Move collections at BaselWorld this past week has been encouraging.

Peter Ungar told Professional Jeweller: "We have been busy with enquiries from the UK and have had a lot of appointments here at Basel, especially from high-end, Rolex retailers.

"They are steering more towards the Move collection while the Gatsby line has been a surprise hit for us in terms of UK interest."

Designs within these collections include simple diamond-set ring with a rolling round brilliant cut diamond in the centre and oval shaped diamond-set hoops

Ungar is hoping to open 20 doors for Messika, stating that he had BaselWorld appointments with most of the retailers he was hoping to work with in the UK and Ireland.

The average spend in the UK for Messika jewellery is between £1,000 and £3,000.
