Sporty timepieces will be launched at BaselWorld
Watch brand Michel Herbelin will launch two new women’s watches and a gent’s chronograph at Basel, as part of its popular Newport collection.
The sport-style watches are inspired by the America’s Cup and the annual boat race at Newport, Rhode Island. The new women’s designs – the Newport Trophy Lady and Newport Yacht Club Lady – feature swiss movements, stainless steel cases, butterfly buckles and dates. The Trophy Lady has a white mother-of-pearl face, silver leather strap and ships wheel logo at the 12 o’clock mark. The Yacht Club watch has a more fashion-led feel combining polished steel with black PVD finishing across the case and bracelet.
The gent’s chronograph has a stainless steel case, blue rubber strap and Swiss quartz movement to 1/10th second. It also boasts a larger date, titanium coated face and luminous hands and dial.
Michel Herbelin was founded in 1947 in Charquemont, France, considered by some as the home of watchmaking since the 18th century. Today, the company is still run by Jean-Claude Herbelin and his brother Pierre-Michel. Now with a third generation of Herbelin family members involved in the company, Michel Herbelin is considered one of the only remaining independent watch manufacturers of note.
