Railway-inspired watch brand trialled in 12 of the retailer’s stores.
Swiss watch brand Mondaine has been snapped up by UK high street jewellery and watch retailer Goldsmiths, as the brand continues to increase its dominance in the UK watch market.
The Official Swiss Railway watch collection will now be available at Goldsmiths, joining watch brands including Tissot, Tag Heuer and Edox. The collection is already online, and will be trialled in 12 UK stores from this week, as Goldsmiths tests the popularity of the brand with its shoppers.
The first quarter of 2011 has already been positive for Mondaine, which is also stocked at numerous jewellery and watch retailers as well as John Lewis department stores and the London Transport Museum.
Mondained UK brand director Derek Salter is confident that Mondaine’s success will continue. He said: “We have always admired Goldsmiths’ prestigious reputation and we firmly believe that its target customer will appreciate the heritage and design kudos that Mondaine offers. We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with them to increase awareness of our watches in the UK.”
The edited collection that Goldsmiths will stock will include the classic Evo and Retro models alongside the novelties launched at BaselWorld earlier this year, including the slimline Simply Elegant collection and the Giant size models with 42mm diameter dial, which will be added to the range in the summer.
