Brand to work with Swiss Embassy on Shoreditch show in June.
Swiss watch brand Mondaine is sponsoring an exhibition of Swiss design in London in June that will include an edited collection of its watches.
The brand is working with the Embassy of Switzerland in London to present a showcase of Swiss design in an exhibition called Swiss Design for Life that will be held at visual arts charity A Foundation’s space in The Rochelle School in the city’s Shoreditch area. The exhibition will explore the impact that Swiss design has around the world and will include a showcase of work by up-and-coming designers, a conference on sustainable design and a panel discussion on the work of Swiss designer Max Bill.
Mondaine UK brand director Derek Salter said: “This unique exhibition provides us with a fantastic opportunity to support young Swiss designers in the UK, as well as the work of the Swiss Embassy.
"Mondaine’s success as a brand is in a large part due to its Swiss design and manufacture. We are very proud of our Swiss heritage and will always endeavour to support innovative designers that keep Switzerland at the forefront of the design industry.”
The exhibition will open to the public on June 18. The exhibition space will be divided into two parts: Contemporary Swiss Design and Reinventing an Image. The first features the work of some of Switzerland’s most talented young designers, while the latter explores Switzerland’s image through the medium of vintage and contemporary travel posters.
A selection of Mondaine watches will be on show in a bookshop within the exhibition.
Mondaine is distributed by Burton McCall in the UK.
