Increased stockists boost revenue at watch brand
Watch brand Mondaine ended 2009 on a high with “impressive sales growth” in the UK.
UK retail sales were up 40% in the last quarter of the year compared to the same period in 2008, and at the end of 2009 its turnover was 59% ahead on the previous year.
The brand, which is owned by the Bernheim family, said that it achieved similar success globally, with the US experiencing 25% total sales growth.
Mondaine said that the increase in sales was partly down to increasing its retail network in the UK through distributor Burton McCall. The brand confirmed that it has now secured its first multiple retailer stockist.
Mondaine UK brand director Derek Salter said: “Last year we were able to improve awareness of Mondaine on a consumer and trade level and this has led to increased demand. In the spring we will be welcoming our first multiple group as a partner, which we believe will strengthen the brand even further in 2010.”
