New B2C jewellery marketplace reports surge in pre-registration sign ups

The founders of a B2B ecommerce website for jewellery products claim to have signed 40 members and listed 5,000 items in their first week of pre-registration.

Owners of The Jewellery App, Miles Hoare and Daren Daniels, say they are delighted by the interest in what they are calling the “jewellery industry’s very own consumer marketplace.”

The B2C marketplace is looking to sell a complete product range to attract the widest range of both consumers and in an aim of connecting the industry in one marketplace.

Daniels said: “We couldn’t have asked for a better start. With jewellery sales going up across the board but high street sales going down, we aim to help turn this around and support the high street independent jewellery trade.”

Hoare and Daniels are also in discussion with several major jewellery trade companies concerning sponsorship and listing products on the new platform.

Daniels added: “We as a trade we need to change and innovate, it needs its own marketplace, and quickly.

“Consumer research is all pointing to buyers wanting more choice in one place, so a niche b2c jewellery marketplace with a wider choice meets consumer trends with shopping online whilst demonstrating the diverse product selection the trade has to offer.”

The new consumer market will be selling products from Fairtrade, Ethical, Pre-owned, Designers, Brands, Traditional, right through to Luxury and have areas for full price products and sale items.

Independent retail jewellers can join the Jewellery & Watch Market without any subscription, item listing and processing fees.

The business will also only charge 8% per transaction, with a reduced rate of 6% for VIP members.
