New head of jewellery for Fellows auction house

IRV fellow and NAG advisor Heather Callaway makes move from retail.

Fellows auction house in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter has appointed Heather Callaway as its new head of jewellery.

The move comes during a period of growth for the auction house, which plans to grow the size and frequency of its jewellery auctions.

Callaway is a gemmologist and diamond grader who has spent 15 years with Plants Jewellers in Staffordshire, where she managed its antique jewellery department. She also oversaw valuations and buying of antique jewellery for the store and its customers.

Her experience also extends to being a fellow of the Institute of Registered Valuers, and she has also worked as an advisor for the National Association of Goldsmiths on its Certificate of Appraisal Theory programme, working with students to help them learn more about the methodology of jewellery valuation.

Callaway said of her new role: "I am very excited to join this very hard working and bright young team of jewellery specialists and helping to deliver over 60 jewellery auctions in 2014”.
