Band’s collection includes charm bracelets and plastic watches.
Quite possibly the world’s most popular boy band, One Direction, have launched a jewellery collection at Argos, featuring charm bracelets, name necklaces and watches.
The silver plated base metal range is part of the Argos’ spring/summer catalogue, with prices from £13.49 for a One Direction name necklace, topping at £29.99 for a watch charm bracelet, featuring disc charms adorned with the five boys’ – Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson – faces. Coloured plastic watches also feature in the collection, with picture dials featuring the band.
Boy band JLS have also put their name to a new line of Argos’ new jewellery, similarly launching a collection of silver plated jewellery, but with blingier designs such as glittering bead charm bracelets and heart pendants studded with crystals.
Home Retail Group, which owns Argos and Homebase, recorded strong results at the catalgoue retailer over the festive period, though its jewellery sales were said to be weak.
In its interim management statement, Terry Duddy, chief executive of Home Retail Group, said: “Argos had a good peak trading period building on its first half performance. Internet sales for the year to date now represent 42% of Argos’ total sales, within which mobile commerce sales grew by 125% as our customers took advantage of new tablet and smartphone apps and improved website functionality.”
