Pandora launches interchangeable watches

Is time ticking away for the watch industry?

Black Crown Diamond collection sells in the UK from October.

Pandora has launched a new series of watches that feature interchangeable bezels and straps.

The range includes watch lines: Imagine, Imagine Grand, Imagine Grand C, Double Oblong, Grand Cushion, Pure, Facets, Cirles, Petit Circle and Petit Square.

Only pieces from the Imagine, Imagine Grand and Double Oblong lines will be interchangeable. Kits will come with the products, but the straps and bezels can be changed easily by hand.

A Valentines set is to be launched in 2011, which will include a watch with an additional strap and bezel.

All the watches will be ‘Swiss made.’ They are being produced by watch company Ronda and are to be 9001 certified, with quartz movements and sapphire glass. The Gold watches will be IP plated with 18 carat gold on stainless steel.

The name Black Crown Diamond reflects the signature black diamond that is to be inset on the crown of each Pandora watch. The brand was unable to use its standard logo on the watches, due to copyright issues.

Pandora watches product director Thomas Nedergaard said: “We cannot use the Pandora logo on the watches. We are not allowed to. There is already a watch on the market with a logo that looks like ours.”

The pieces will be water resistant to 50 metres and will come with a three year warrantee. They will be available at all Pandora concept stores and shop-in-shops from October, and will be priced between £150 to £1,375.
