PGI offers retail mystery shopping reports online

Recommended retailers given access to reports relating to own stores.

The Platinum Guild International (PGI) has announced the launch of its Platinum Mystery Shopping Reports online, enabling its recommended retailers to view feedback about platinum-related sales in their stores.

The PGI’s recommended retailer members can register for the reports through the recommended retailer tab on its site. Once approved as an official user, retailers will be able to view and download the mystery shopping reports specific to their stores. The reports will be available online for six months, until June this year.

Laura Hurst, PGI’s international marketing and communications manager said: “The provision of a free-of-charge mystery shopping service has always been of the utmost value to our members. To be able to provide online access to the reports was a vision we had in 2012 to further improve our service."

Last month it was announced the PGI had closed its UK office. It has now released an official statement, focused on its closures across Europe.

A statement from the PGI said: “As a consequence of tighter budgeting, PGI has regrettably had to close its European platinum marketing operations in Germany, the UK and Italy as of the 31st of December 2012. These markets and the teams working for PGI have made a strong contribution both within their individual markets and also as members of the global team over the many years the offices have been in operation.”

The PGI said it will now focus its marketing development programmes on China, Japan, the USA and India in 2013, said to be the top four consumer markets for platinum jewellery, representing 90% of platinum jewellery demand.

The PGI will retain its central marketing operation in London and continue to work with the four PGI offices to further develop jewellery demand and mitigate the effect of the closures.
