Retail jeweller sets up shop in the city’s luxury arcade The Avenue.
Retail jeweller Phillip Stoner has opened a new shop in Manchester’s luxury shopping development The Avenue.
The new shop has been given a soft launch, with the doors now open, but is planning a big splash in the new year. Phillip Stoner marketing director Helen Stoner said: “We have now opened the doors to test out the shop but we will be doing a big launch event in the new year.”
The team at Phillip Stoner have been developing the shop for four months and have taken inspiration from Bond Street jewellers to create a look that it describes as “a contemporary boutique store with a fresh and welcoming feel”.
Phillip Stoner managing director Jonathan Stoner said: “We were approached to open a store on The Avenue as the management company wanted a boutique jeweller which would sit amongst high profile luxury brands such as Mulberry, Armani and Nicky Clarke.”
The Avenue opening is the retailer’s first opening in the city, which Jonathan described as “an exciting, vibrant city and a natural progression for our expansion”. He added: “Our current business is going strong, despite the difficult trading times, and we decided to seize the opportunity to be amongst such prestigious international brands.”
Phillip Stoner is a family-run business, with Jonathan taking over the business from his father in 2008 and now running it with his wife Helen. The retailer now has stores in Leeds, Halifax and now Manchester, stocking luxury brands such as Hearts on Fire, Ungar & Ungar, and Gucci as well as contemporary brands such as Ti Sento and Chamilia and its own range of jewellery created by an in-house design team.
