Renowned for his darkly romantic and beautifully crafted jewellery, Shaun Leane's work has been described by Sotheby's as antiques of the future. Shaun knew his destiny lay in jewellery from his early teens so, desperately wanting to get into the business as quickly as possible, he studied a foundation course in jewellery design, the only path available to him at that age. My tutors recognised that I had a natural ability to make jewellery so they sent me to a very traditional workshop in Hatton Garden to do an apprenticeship. I remained there for 13 years, learning every skill pertaining to goldsmithing and antique restoration. Through a moment of serendipity I met Alexander McQueen and began to design jewellery pieces for his catwalk shows. Here was where I found my signature style; fusing tradition with fashion. It was in 1999 that Shaun set up his own company and in 2005 he launched his first diamond collection, in celebration of his 20th yearin the jewellery industry. The Collection marked a return to his roots with hand-crafted pieces that celebrate the exclusivity of high-end jewellery. His idea of fusing fashion with tradition introduced a new element to fine jewellery and in 2006 the collection landed him the UK Luxury Jewellery of the Year award. The past 12 month has seen landmark events such as his first piece auctioned at Christie's, winning UK Jewellery Designer of the Year 2010 and opening a concession store at Harrods. This year promises to hold more groundbreaking moments for the Shaun Leane brand as its gears up to open stand-alone stores across southeast Asia.

Take a look at Andrew Geoghegan's collection for Trendsetter. He creates pieces of art that are futuristicly gorgeous using classically beautiful materials. A great example is his Satellite Ring. Diamonds and classic precious stones are set in buttery-smooth gold to give the appearance of an "orbit". His art perfectly embodies what a trendsetter is - original, ahead of its time, with rooted elements of classic beauty.
