As an avid fan of "making things", Alex found his way into the jewellery market after the things he was making seemed to just get smaller and smaller. He established the Alex Monroe brand in 1987, beginning life in a small south London studio. Fast forward 23 years and Alex has a clutch of awards to his name, including Designer Of The Year at the 2008 UK Jewellery Awards. The Alex Monroe brand has become synonymous with the simple beauty of nature that is so evidently his prime muse throughout all of his work. All 14 collections currently on sale depict his influences, from the Lucky Clover line to the Feather collection, each one marked with his signature delicate finish. This year has proved to be "full of highs" for the Alex Monroe team with the company going "from strength to strength" and the only hard part of the year being around Christmas because they were "so busy and the phone wouldn't stop ringing". Their busy schedule doesn't put them off however, "We always have huge plans - actually, usually too many. But the coming year is especially exciting with our new HQ being built in London Bridge. This will also be the first ever stand-alone Alex Monroe shop."

Take a look at Andrew Geoghegan's collection for Trendsetter. He creates pieces of art that are futuristicly gorgeous using classically beautiful materials. A great example is his Satellite Ring. Diamonds and classic precious stones are set in buttery-smooth gold to give the appearance of an "orbit". His art perfectly embodies what a trendsetter is - original, ahead of its time, with rooted elements of classic beauty.
