While June’s figures show 50,000 fewer 9ct gold articles assayed.

The latest UK hallmarking figures from the four UK assay offices as provided by the Birmingham Assay Office show that the total number of units hallmarked in Q2 fell 13.8% compared to the same period last year.

The Q2 2013 data reveals that, in total, all four precious metal groups showed declines in the number of articles hallmarked in Q2, with palladium most heavily impacted, dropping 29.3% year-on-year.

The hallmarking figures for the month of June show that assaying fell 9.7%; a reduction of 70,857 articles. The reduction was mostly due to a drop in the number of 9ct gold articles assayed, with 50,000 less articles recorded compared to the same month in 2012.
