The doors to Baselworld 2016 have opened and the halls are filled with attendees from all corners of the world.
Professional Jeweller chats to Hayley Quinn of industry giant Swarovski, and gets the scoop on what’s in store for the brand at this year’s show.
You are known for your extraordinary stand at Basel, what can visitors expect this year?
Swarovski will take up residence at Baselworld in a stand where our watch and fashion jewellery collections will be displayed on immense circular platforms that cover more than 2,000 m2 over two levels. Visitors will be completely immersed in Swarovski’s world.
How does the stand reflect the Swarovksi brand?
We are very proud of our award winning Basel stand. Our stand is a true reflection on our brand DNA and showcases the different facets of our personality. It really allows our guests to experience the wonderful world of Swarovski, immersing them into light, dazzle and sparkle – what else would you expect from Swarovski?
What makes Basel such an important show for Swarovski?
Basel is an important show for us locally and globally, as it truly focuses on jewellery and watches, which is at the heart of our brand. And as the biggest trade fair in the world, and one which is attended by the world’s leading jewellery and watches brands, it’s a great opportunity for us to meet with our valued retailers and top press contacts – introducing them to our new season collection.
What will you be showcasing at Basel this year?
This year, the stand will be showcasing for the first time an automatic watch for women, which we are very excited about. The watch, called ‘Crystalline Hours’, shows that technology and precision can be interpreted in a feminine way. It is an exciting launch as it is the first automatic women’s watch in the Swarovski watches range. Created in collaboration with top watch designer Eric Giroud, the watch is versatile, beautiful and can be worn from day to night. It truly reflects a new vision for our watch collection.
