The new brand’s founder on the move from cufflinks to women’s jewels.
Ross Jones launched his cufflink brand Nine Two Five last year and has now taken a new step into women’s jewellery, creating the brand Ebony and Jade. The collection features colourful beaded bracelets made using gemstone and Swarovski crystal beads, with plans to develop the brand’s offer in the coming months.
Professional Jeweller: After focusing on the men’s market why have you decided to launch a women’s jewellery brand?
Ross Jones: During my seven years experience in the field, I became increasingly keen to develop a brand exclusively for females. There is a strong, broad market with many possibilities to introduce an ever-expanding range of accessories, with designs unique to Ebony and Jade. In the long term there is scope to bring my vision to the range, with more bracelets, necklaces, earrings and jewellery items to various accessories such as handbags and shoes.
PJ: Your launch collection of bracelets are bright tap into the trend of layering. What part of the market do you hope to fill?
RJ: I’m looking to establish my own sense of style, to align with other popular women’s accessories being sold by contemporary fashion houses. My designs are intended to be affordable for females from all walks of life, student to professional, mainstream to alternative. My initial beaded bracelet design comprise two distinct styles: the Fifty-Fifty and the Mini Skull, which is prominent in women’s fashion at present. Both styles incorporate Swarovski fluoro beads and semi-precious gemstone beads with gold plated Ebony and Jade tags.
PJ: Will you be showing the collection at upcoming trade shows?
RJ: Due to the recent launch of the brand and the limitations of only two debut designs coming to fruition, I’m focusing all my time and energy into expanding the Ebony and Jade product line. By autumn, I’ll be ready to unveil the range at trade shows and events.
