As part of its annual fundraising campaign, QVC UK raised £314,000 for its flagship charity Breast Cancer Care last year – a 14% increase on the previous year.
In its 17th year of partnering with Breast Cancer Care, the fundraising activity was given a refresh to spread awareness beyond October. Instead of the annual live fundraising show, the campaign ran from August until October, giving it longevity and maximum exposure.
The campaign consisted of a capsule collection of products, including a bespoke jewellery collection, as well as online Beauty Flash Events. More than £19,000 of the total amount was raised through internal employee initiatives.
Samia al Qadhi, chief executive of Breast Cancer Care, said: “We are hugely grateful for this 17-year partnership and are delighted that QVC customers and staff have raised an incredible £314,000 in 2016. This amazing amount means that our partnership has now raised a phenomenal grand total of over £6 million.
“Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women in the UK and thanks to QVC, Breast Cancer Care is able to provide free services so even more people get the care, support and information they desperately need. A huge thank you to QVC’s customers, staff and everyone who has supported the campaign again this year and helped us reach this incredible total.”
In 2016, QVC also raised more than £102,000 through employee fundraising for its nominated corporate charities. The driving force behind the success were the ‘QVC Cares’ charity committee members across all UK sites.
